Operational Information for IEPM Projects
Connie Logg
Date: September 9, 2003
This is a list of IEPM Projects and and the operational information on them.
It includes information (or links to the information) concerning the location of
the source, what processes/programs need to be run when, where they are run,
etc. Numerous people have been involved in the development of these projects.
- Bandwidth Tests - IEPM-BW
- Source code: /afs/slac/package/netmon/bandwidth-tests/v2src
- Maintainers: Connie Logg and Jerrod Williams
- Installation: instructions
- Invocation: From the IEPM trscrontab
- Results:
Bandwidth Test Results
- Computers used: Hercules, web server
- Data sources:
- PingER
- Source Code: See
The PingER Tools
- Maintainer: Les Cottrell and Jerrod Williams
- Installation:
The PingER Tools
- Checking the HEP data(daily process): Daily duties from the PingER project
- Invocation:
crontab: "00,30 * * * * /u2/pinger/wanmon/timeping.pl /afs/slac/www/comp/net/mon/offsite.nodes"
currently under user warrenm
- Computers used: oceanus, web server
- Data sources: /nfs/oceanus/u6/analysis/hep/data - directory where we put the data that we fetch by
the iepm trscrontab entries:
# this runs the PINGER program to gather the data from the remote sites
oceanus 10 1 * * * /u6/analysis/hep/getdata.pl
# makes the chart that shows the data gathered for each month.
oceanus 30 1 * * * /usr/local/bin/bsub /nfs/oceanus/u6/analysis/hep/checkdata_gif.pl
- Notes: Currently runs on oceanus which is on bamnet,
Raw data from pinger is stored in
/nfs/oceanus/u2/pinger/wanmon/data and is backed up in /nfs/slac/g/net/iepm-bw/pinger/data
- Traceping 9/9/03 - discontinued - replaced by iepm-bw tracerouting
- Source code: /u4/traceping on oceanus
- Maintainer:
- Installation:
- Invocation: /u4/traceping/traceping.pl on oceanus by
trscrontab entry: Needs to be filled in
- Results: web page
- Computers used: oceanus, web server
- Data sources: iepm-bw alias file
- Web Services - provides access to information for "computer programs" - note we use web services to find
iepm-bw monitoring nodes for example. This is an oracle data base, and Paola updates and maintains the data
input. Since this is an oracle data base, it does not require that we have a "server" job running anywhere.
- Source code:
- Maintainer: Paola Grosso
- Documentation: Soap Info , also note that
Mona Lisa has a capability of pulling data from web services.
- Installation:
- Invocation:
- Results:
- Computers used: web server, Doris for ripe data.
- Data sources: IEPM-BW results (plotdata format), RIPE data currently from Doris), ABWE data; PingER data is not
currently being added, but could be - look at this in October 2003. Data can be loaded into the
oracle data base from anywhere, but Doris is the only node with access to the RIPE data at this time.
